Our Mission

The Sun lab has been working on understanding the mechanism behind diabetic podocytopathy, the most prevalent of human podocytopathies. A lack of knowledge on how diabetes directly impairs podocyte function has resulted in limited choices for effective medical management. We try to understand the molecular events underlying the pathogenesis of podocytopathy to direct a rational development of novel therapies.

Additionally, we have conducted in vivo studies to test potential therapeutics for FSGS causing INF2 mutations.
